Early Life and Education
Born in 1972 as the seventh of eight children to dedicated school teachers, Chellappan Sir and Janamma Teacher, Dr. C. Ajithkumar's journey in sports began early in life. His exceptional dedication to athletics earned him the Kerala State Award for Best Sportsmanship in 1991. He was an active member of both the Mahatma Gandhi University team and the Kerala State athletics team, making significant contributions as an athlete.
He holds:
- Ph.D. in Sports and Exercise Science
- Master's Degree in Physical Education
- PG Diploma in Sports Coaching (Athletics) with an 'A' Grade
Coaching Career
Spanning over two decades, Dr. Ajithkumar's coaching career has impacted Indian athletics profoundly.
He has served in institutions such as:
- Rajiv Gandhi University of Medical Sciences
- Alva's Education Foundation
He has coached over 80 athletes who now serve in various departments across India. His athletes have earned global recognition, including:
- Silver Medal - 2025 Asian Track and Field Meet, South Korea
- Bronze Medal - 2023 World University Games (Long Jump), China
He is also a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), a prestigious global organization for coaches.
In 2023, Dr. Ajithkumar received a special honour from the President of India, recognizing his outstanding contribution to Indian athletics -- a proud moment that reflected national appreciation for his relentless service.
Personal Life
Dr. Ajithkumar is married to Reena, an officer at the Kerala State Government Secretariat, Thiruvananthapuram. They are proud parents of two daughters:
